Jordan’s Obituary in New York Times

Jordan’s obituary on the front of the New York Times.  Jordan impacted so many people, to say how bad our family’s hearts hurt during this trying time wouldn’t be fair to everyone else his charm reached.  Jordan had a way with people, and while our family had extremely heavy hearts at the time.  There were countless friends, neighbors, teachers, coaches, and many more, whose condolences, and sorrow were felt hand in hand with that of our own.  A quote from Abraham Lincoln; “And in the end, it’s not the years in your life that count.  It’s the life in your years.”  This quote says a lot about Jordan, it is almost as if it were directed at him.  Here’s why; Jordan was able to go to different schools, weather it be Seton Hall or his public school growing up, Jordan was able to travel to the world, Jordan was able to meet so many amazing individuals that most people pray to meet once, Jordan encountered experiences few may ever have the opportunity to, but throughout of all that.  Jordan was able to meet and inspire an immense amount of people he came across.  It’s hard to put it in words, but he just had a way of connecting with people almost instantaneously.  And after you got to meet & know him, it was hard not to fall in love with him; he was just different.  Even if it was just a short time someone got to spend with him, he lingered around in their minds, because of this X factor I’m trying to put into words.  He was a kind soul, with a giving heart, and a smile and laugh that could make someone’s gloomiest of days feel like nothing was ever wrong.  This scholarship has received tremendous support from the start, and I can only thank the person Jordan was, for all of it. With this scholarship, we hope to bring that joy, that inspiration, the love of sports, passion for life and all the people in it that Jordan had and allow it to help others achieve their aspirations.
